Riding all day long

If you’re looking for a long day in the saddle, riding mostly flat (by Swiss standards) terrain then this route is what you’re looking for. On top of that there will be stretches with impressive and gorgeous views.

As you’ll ride a loop you can start anywhere to get back from where you started. Personally, I’m a fan of riding along rivers and lakes and this particular route has plenty of that up its sleeve. Once in Arbon you’ll ride along “Bodensee” and after that you’ll follow the river “Rhein” for a few kilometers to then join some gorgeous backroads along the “Rheintaler Binnenkanal” which will later turn into the “Werdenberger Binnenkanal”. Once you’ve passed by Sargans you’ll be routed to Mels, where you’ll follow the river “Seez” taking you to Walensee. Once you’ve left “Walensee” and the impressive “Churfirsten” mountains behind, you’ll enter “Linthebene”, which you’ll cross until you reach “Zürichsee”. If, for instance, you started from Winterthur you’ll now be on the “home stretch” of the route.

When it comes to coffee breaks I’d recommend the towns of Weinfelden, Arbon, Sargans, Walenstadt and Schmerikon.
